The Magic of a New Beginning

On my first Mother’s Day Ginny Rose, Sal, and I went out to breakfast, talked about Ginny’s birth story, and are lounging all day in our pjs as the rain falls outside on this blustery Brooklyn afternoon. While Sal is teaching Mini how to make nachos, I’m reflecting on the amazing trip I had in Boston this week.

It was my first Dream, Girl screening event since having the baby and it really wonderful. Not only did I get to spend four hours alone in a hotel room (every new mother’s dream!) but I also got to meet some incredible women at Latham & Watkins, the firm that hosted the event.

After the film we talked about the challenges women are still facing in the workforce, the best way to engage men as allies, and so much more.

One of my favorite parts of the conversation was when we talked about how motherhood influences work. I’m always obsessed with hearing about women’s experiences, and listening to women talk about their motherhood journey is no different. It reminded me of how much work there is to do in our media to actually reflect the real experiences of women.

There is so much to share about what it’s like to be a mom and as a creative, I can’t wait to further explore this topic. Which is why I’m excited to let you know that I started filming and talking about my motherhood journey on camera with Dream, Girldirector of photography Mary Perrino.

While I’m still figuring out the best way to share and edit this video diary, know you’ll be the first to see it when it’s complete.

Stay tuned for more.

Xx,
